The Oval Pendant Mold from Colour de Verre casts three oval glass pendants in a single firing, producing pieces in three widths: 20mm (about 0.8 inch), 25mm (about 1 inch), and 30mm (about 1.2 inches). The three cavities sit within a mold that is 6 inches by 5 inches by 1 inch deep, so a single kiln run yields a coordinated set of pendant sizes at once.
Fill the cavities with frit, or add dichroic flakes for color and light effects. Colour de Verre lists fill weights of 4 grams for the 20mm cavity, 6 grams for the 25mm cavity, and 11 grams for the 30mm cavity. The cast pendants are formed to shape and rarely need cold work such as grinding or polishing after firing. The finished pieces work with leather, rubber, silk, or metal cords. As a ceramic casting mold it is COE agnostic and reusable across many firings when primed and cared for properly.
What does the Oval Pendant Mold make? It casts three oval glass pendants in one firing, in widths of 20mm (about 0.8 inch), 25mm (about 1 inch), and 30mm (about 1.2 inches). The finished pieces are suited to pendants and earrings and rarely need grinding or polishing after firing.
How much glass do I need per cavity? Colour de Verre lists 4 grams for the 20mm cavity, 6 grams for the 25mm cavity, and 11 grams for the 30mm cavity. Weigh your frit and test a first run when the result matters.
What COE glass can I use in this mold? Any COE. Ceramic casting molds are COE agnostic, so the same mold works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using.
How do I prep the mold before casting? Prime the cavities before every use with a boron nitride mold primer and let it dry completely before adding glass. Re-prime between firings.

Working Notes
These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold.
Prime all three cavities before every use with ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer or Hotline Primo Primer . Let the primer dry completely before adding glass, and re-prime before each firing.
Fill cavities with frit, or add dichroic flakes for color and surface variation. Use the listed fill weights as a starting point: 4g for the 20mm cavity, 6g for the 25mm, and 11g for the 30mm.
The mold is COE agnostic. Use a casting schedule suited to your glass.
Colour de Verre Suggested Firing Guidelines
This is a suggested starting point, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold and test a small run first.
