Plate Ring Slumping Mold

The Plate Ring Slumping Mold from Creative Paradise is a ceramic slumping form with a 10 inch outer diameter and a 6 inch center opening. A pre-fused or sheet glass blank is placed over the ring, then fired so the glass softens and drapes down through the opening, forming a raised rim. The mold is designed to pair with the foot draping mold to create a footed dish.

Like all ceramic slumping molds, this one is COE agnostic and reusable across many firings. Use it with COE96, COE90, or other compatible fusible glass, and match the firing schedule to the glass you are using.

What does the Plate Ring Slumping Mold make?
It slumps a glass blank into a plate with a raised ring rim, shaped by the 10 inch form and 6 inch center opening. Paired with the foot draping mold, it produces a finished footed dish.

How does it pair with the foot draping mold?
The plate ring shapes the body and rim of the dish. The foot draping mold is set at the center with this plate ring around it, and the glass blank drapes over both forms in the same firing, producing the footed dish in a single pass.

What COE glass can I use?
Any COE. Ceramic slumping molds are COE agnostic, so the same mold works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using.

How do I prep the mold before slumping?
Coat the mold surface with a kiln shelf primer such as a boron nitride spray (for example ZYP) or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer, and let it dry completely before placing your glass. Re-coat as needed between firings.

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a slumping schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Prime the mold surface with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer, or a kiln wash, and let it dry completely before placing your glass so the glass does not stick.
• Place your pre-fused blank or sheet glass over the ring form, centered over the 6 inch opening. The glass will soften and drape down through the center as the kiln heats up.
• This mold is designed to pair with the foot draping mold to make a footed dish.
• The mold is COE agnostic. Use a slumping schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the final anneal soak for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the slumped piece. Re-coat the mold with primer as needed between firings.
• The Slide Hi Temp brand separator is not recommended with these molds.

This is a suggested COE96 starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Test a small run and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.

Slump (COE96, double layer):

*Segment 3 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.
