Round Koi Wave Textured Fusing Tile

The Round Koi Wave Textured Fusing Tile from Creative Paradise is a 13 inch diameter ceramic tile that imprints a koi wave relief pattern onto the underside of glass during a fuse firing. Set the prepared tile in the kiln as you would a kiln shelf tile, place your glass on top, and fire; the glass softens and picks up the koi wave texture from the tile surface.

Frit may also be fused directly on the tile to create a patterned panel. The 13 inch diameter suits round glass panels and larger flat work. Like all Creative Paradise ceramic tiles and molds, it is COE agnostic and reusable across many firings when properly prepped with a kiln wash or glass separator before each use.

What does the Round Koi Wave Textured Fusing Tile do?
It imprints a koi wave relief pattern on the underside of glass during a fuse firing. Place your glass on the prepared tile, fire to full fuse temperature, and the texture transfers to the bottom surface of the finished piece.

What size glass can I use with this tile?

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a firing schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Apply a glass separator or kiln wash to the tile surface following the manufacturer's instructions. For a boron nitride option, use a primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer, and let it dry completely before placing glass on top.
• Place your glass panel on the prepared tile, as you would set glass on a kiln shelf tile, and fire to full fuse temperature. The koi wave texture transfers to the underside of the glass as it softens.
• Frit may also be fused directly on the tile surface to create a patterned panel with the koi wave design integrated into the piece.
• The tile is COE agnostic. Use a full fuse schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the final anneal soak for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the fused piece. Re-coat the tile with separator as needed between firings.

Creative Paradise Suggested Firing Schedule

This is a suggested COE96 starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Test a small run and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.

Full Fuse (COE96): suggested for a double layer of COE96 glass with frit.

*Segment 4 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.
