Sea Life Textured Fusing Tile

The Sea Life Textured Fusing Tile from Creative Paradise is a 12 inch by 12 inch ceramic tile with a raised sea life pattern that imprints texture into the bottom surface of glass during kiln fusing. To use it, coat the tile with a glass separator, lay your glass sheet or fused blank on top, and fire to a full fuse. As the glass softens and settles, it picks up the raised sea life texture on its underside. Frit may also be fused directly on the tile for added color and pattern detail.

The tile measures 12 inches by 12 inches with a diagonal of 17.25 inches, making it well suited to standard 12 inch glass squares or custom cut pieces. Like all ceramic kiln tools it is COE agnostic and reusable across many firings when properly coated with a glass separator before each use. Creative Paradise notes the textured blank can also be slumped onto the GM132 XL Sushi mold for additional shaping after fusing.

What does the Sea Life Textured Fusing Tile do?

How do I prep the tile before use?
Coat the tile surface with a glass separator or kiln wash following the separator manufacturer's instructions, and let it dry completely before placing glass on top so the glass releases cleanly after firing.

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a fusing schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Coat the tile surface with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer, or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer, following the separator manufacturer's instructions, and let it dry completely before placing glass on top.
• Place a glass sheet or a double layer of glass directly on the prepared tile surface. Frit can also be placed on the tile for additional color and texture variation.
• The tile is COE agnostic. Use a full fuse schedule matched to your glass, and adjust the final anneal soak for your COE.
• After fusing, the textured blank can be slumped onto the GM132 XL Sushi mold for further shaping if desired.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the fused piece from the tile. Re-coat the tile with separator as needed between firings.

Creative Paradise Suggested Firing Schedule

This is a suggested COE96 starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Test a small run and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.

Full Fuse (COE96): suggested for a double layer of glass with frit.

*Segment 4 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.
