The Small Tree of Life Textured Fusing Tile from Creative Paradise is a 7 inch by 7 inch ceramic tile with a tree of life relief pattern pressed into its surface. Place the prepared tile on the kiln shelf, lay a glass blank on top, and fire. As the glass softens during the fusing cycle, it settles into the tile's relief and picks up the tree of life pattern on its underside.
The tile measures 7 inches by 7 inches with a 10 inch diagonal. Frit may also be fused directly on the tile surface to create a patterned piece rather than a texture transfer. Like all ceramic kiln accessories, the tile is COE agnostic and reusable across many firings when prepped with separator between uses.
What does the Small Tree of Life Textured Fusing Tile do? It imprints a tree of life pattern onto the underside of glass placed on top of it during fusing. Frit may also be fused directly on the tile to create a patterned piece.
How do I use it to texture glass? Place the primed tile on your kiln shelf. Set a glass sheet or fused blank on top and fire. As the glass softens, it conforms to the tile's relief and the tree of life texture transfers to the underside of the piece.
Can I fuse frit directly on the tile? Yes. Load frit onto the prepared tile surface and fire. This creates a patterned glass piece with the tree of life design on one face, rather than a texture transfer to a separate sheet.
What COE glass works with this tile? Any COE. Ceramic tiles are COE agnostic, so the same tile works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using.

Working Notes
These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a schedule suited to your glass and kiln.
Prime the tile surface with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer , or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer following the manufacturer's instructions, and let it dry completely before adding glass.
To texture glass: place a glass sheet or fused blank on top of the prepared tile and fire. The glass softens against the tile's relief pattern and the tree of life texture transfers to the underside of the piece.
To fuse frit on the tile: load frit directly onto the prepared tile surface and fire. This creates a patterned glass piece rather than a texture transfer.
The tile is COE agnostic. Use a schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the final anneal soak for your COE.
Let the kiln cool fully before removing the glass. Re-coat the tile with separator as needed between firings.
The Slide Hi Temp brand separator is not recommended with these molds.
Creative Paradise Suggested Firing Schedule
This is a suggested COE96 starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Test a small run and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.
Texturing Schedule (double layer of COE96 glass):
Segment Rate Temp (F) Hold 1 275 1210 30 2 50 1250 20 3 275 1330 05 4 350 1460 05 5 9999 950* 60 6 100 825 05 7 100 500 05
*Segment 5 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.
