Solid Color Glass Decals Nature Tones

The Nature Tones set presents four solid color fields arranged in a two-by-two grid: a medium leaf green, a deep forest green, a warm earth brown, and a muted teal. Each block fills a generous area with pure, consistent pigment, giving you broad expanses of color to cut into any shape your project calls for.

These are water-slide decal sheets designed for application to pre-fired glass. Cut your desired shape from the sheet first, then soak the cut piece in room-temperature water until the decal releases from its backing. Slide it carefully onto clean, dry pre-fired glass and smooth out any water or air bubbles from the center outward using a soft squeegee or your fingertip. Let the piece dry fully before loading the kiln. Because the decal fires onto the glass surface rather than fusing as a compatible glass layer, it works with your fusible glass regardless of COE.

Can I layer colors from this set on the same piece?
You can. Fire one decal layer, allow the piece to cool completely, clean the surface, then apply a second decal and fire again. Each firing bonds that color layer to the glass, and subsequent layers fire on top without disturbing what is already set.

Working Notes

Clean your pre-fired glass thoroughly before applying any decal. Fingerprint oils, kiln wash residue, or dust can prevent even adhesion and leave gaps or lifted edges after firing. After positioning the decal and smoothing out bubbles, allow the piece to dry completely before loading the kiln. Depending on studio humidity, full drying can take several hours. Rushing this step is a common cause of bubbling during firing.

Suggested Firing Schedule (a suggested starting point only, not a guarantee of results): Final firing temperature is roughly 1240 to 1370 degrees, held about 10 minutes and kept toward the lower end to preserve density. Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees.
50 DPH to 185 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 20 min.
150 DPH to 300 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 15 min.
250 DPH to 500 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 15 min.
600 DPH to 1000 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 10 min.
Then advance to 1240 to 1370 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 10 min.
Anneal for the thickness of your glass. Every kiln fires differently, so test a small piece first.
