Solid Color Glass Decals Soft & Dark Tones

This Solid Color Glass Decals set presents five tones in the soft and dark range: a near-white off-white, a cool medium gray, a muted blush pink, a soft lavender, and a deep near-black. Each tone is a flat, uniform field of color with no pattern, texture, or motif, giving you a flexible source of clean, solid-color elements for fused glass work. Cut whatever shapes you need from each color.

These are water-slide decals applied to pre-fired glass and then fired to bond the color to the surface. Cut any shape you need, soak it briefly in water until the decal film loosens from its backing, slide it onto clean pre-fired glass, press out water and air bubbles from the center outward, and let the piece dry fully before loading the kiln. Fire following the schedule below, testing a small sample first since solid-color fields can behave a little differently from printed image decals.

Working Notes

Apply these decals to clean, fully cooled, pre-fired glass only. Any oil or surface residue will prevent even adhesion. After soaking and positioning the decal, work out water and air bubbles from the center outward using a soft squeegee or fingertip, then allow the piece to dry completely before placing it in the kiln. A gentle early-stage ramp helps the decal film burn off without trapping gases beneath the color layer.

These are single-color silkscreen decals. Fire on glass in the 1240 to 1370 degrees F range, held about 10 minutes and kept toward the lower end to preserve density. A typical ramp: vent the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees; 50 degrees/hr to 185 (hold 20 min), 150 degrees/hr to 300 (hold 15 min), 250 degrees/hr to 500 (hold 15 min), 600 degrees/hr to 1000 (hold 10 min), then to the final temperature. Fire a small test sample first and anneal for the thickness of your glass base.
