The Square Napkin Ring mold from Colour de Verre is a reusable ceramic frit-casting mold that casts glass napkin rings with a square opening. Load the cavities with frit or small billets of fusible glass, fire the mold in your kiln, and the glass takes the shape of the cavity to produce finished glass napkin rings.
Like all ceramic casting molds, this one is COE agnostic. Use it with COE96, COE90, or other compatible fusible glass and match your firing schedule to the glass you are using. The mold is reusable across many firings when it is properly primed and handled.
What does the Square Napkin Ring mold make? It casts glass napkin rings with a square opening. The finished pieces work as functional table accessories or as decorative glass objects.
What COE glass can I use in this mold? Any COE. Ceramic casting molds are COE agnostic, so the same mold works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using.
How do I prep the mold before casting? Colour de Verre molds require priming before every use. Apply ZYP BN Lubricoat or Hotline Primo Primer to the cavities and let it dry completely before loading glass. This keeps the fused glass from bonding to the mold surface.
Is the mold reusable? Yes. As a ceramic kiln casting mold it is designed for many firings. Re-prime it before each use and handle it with care to extend its life.

Working Notes
These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold and test a small run first when the result matters.
Prime the cavities before every use. Colour de Verre calls for ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer or Hotline Primo Primer . Let the primer dry fully before adding glass.
Fill the cavities with frit or small billets of fusible glass. Load the glass in layers if needed to fill the cavity evenly.
The mold is COE agnostic. Use a full fuse schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the final anneal soak temperature for your COE.
Let the kiln cool fully before removing the cast pieces. Re-prime the mold before each subsequent firing.
Colour de Verre Suggested Firing Guidelines
This is a suggested starting point, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold and test a small run before committing to a full batch.
Heat no faster than about 350 F (195 C) per hour.
Fire to no more than about 1450 F (785 C).
Follow with a controlled cool and an anneal soak suited to your glass: about 950 F for COE96, or about 900 F for COE90.
