The Starburst Texture Fusing Tile from Creative Paradise is an 8.5 inch diameter ceramic tile that takes the place of a kiln shelf during fusing to imprint a radial starburst pattern into the underside of your glass. Place a sheet or fused blank on the prepared tile and fire; the glass softens and picks up the starburst texture as it fuses. Frit can also be fired directly on the tile surface to create a patterned decorative piece.
Like all ceramic kiln tools from Creative Paradise, the tile is COE agnostic and reusable across many firings when prepped and cared for properly. Follow the glass separator or kiln wash manufacturer instructions to coat the tile before each use so the fused piece releases cleanly.
What does the Starburst Texture Fusing Tile do? It imprints a starburst texture into the underside of fused glass. Place your glass on the prepared tile in the kiln and fire; the glass softens onto the tile surface and picks up the radial pattern.
Can I fuse frit directly on the tile? Yes. Frit fired directly on the tile takes on the starburst pattern and can produce a distinctive decorative result.
What COE glass can I use with this tile? Any COE. Ceramic kiln tools are COE agnostic, so the same tile works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using.
How do I prep the tile before fusing? Follow the glass separator or kiln wash manufacturer instructions to apply and cure the separator on the tile surface. Let it dry completely before placing glass on top.

Working Notes
These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a fusing schedule suited to your glass and kiln.
Prime the tile surface with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer , or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer , following the manufacturer instructions and letting it dry completely before placing glass.
Place a sheet of glass or a fused blank directly on the prepared tile, or fill the tile surface with frit for a patterned result.
The tile is COE agnostic. Use a fusing schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the final anneal soak for your COE.
Let the kiln cool fully before removing the fused piece. Re coat the tile with separator as needed between firings.
Creative Paradise Suggested Firing Schedule
This is a suggested COE96 starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Test a small run and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.
Full Fuse (COE96): for a double layer of COE96 glass.
Segment Rate Temp (F) Hold 1 275 1150 60 2 50 1300 20 3 350 1465 05 4 9999 950* 60
*Segment 4 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.
