The Teardrops Cast-A-Cab mold from Creative Paradise casts two teardrop shaped cabochons, each about 3.25 inches long and 2 inches wide, by the pot melt method. It is designed to be used with the Mini Scrap Master pot melt mold: glass is melted in the pot above and flows down into the prepared teardrop cavities, making it a practical way to turn fusible scrap into finished cabochons.
The mold footprint is 5.5 inches by 3.25 inches. Creative Paradise lists a fill of about 42 grams of glass per cavity, and suggests using at least 25 grams of clear in the mix. Like all ceramic casting molds it is COE agnostic and reusable across many firings.
What does the Teardrops Cast-A-Cab mold make? It casts two teardrop shaped cabochons, each roughly 3.25 inches long and 2 inches wide, when used with the Mini Scrap Master pot melt mold.
How does the pot melt method work with this mold? Glass is loaded into the Mini Scrap Master pot, which sits above the prepared teardrops mold. As it heats, the glass melts and pours down into the teardrop cavities, blending your scrap into each cabochon.
How much glass do I use? Creative Paradise lists about 42 grams per cavity, including at least 25 grams of clear. Fill weight varies with your glass, so weigh it and test a first run.
What COE glass and prep does it need? Any COE works, since the mold is COE agnostic. Prime the cavities with a boron nitride spray (such as ZYP) or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer , and let it dry completely before adding glass.

Working Notes
These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a casting schedule suited to your glass and kiln.
Prime both teardrop cavities with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer , or a kiln wash, and let it dry completely before adding glass.
This mold is meant to be paired with the Mini Scrap Master Cast-A-Cab Mold pot melt mold. Load the pot, set it over the prepared teardrops mold, and fire so the glass flows into the cavities.
Using at least 25 grams of clear in the 42 gram fill helps the scrap blend and flow well.
The mold is COE agnostic. Fire it with the Mini Scrap Master pot-melt melting schedule below, which works for both COE 90 and COE 96.
Let the kiln cool fully before removing the cabochons. Re coat the mold with primer as needed between firings. The Slide Hi Temp brand separator is not recommended with these molds.
Creative Paradise Suggested Firing Schedule (Mini Scrap Master Melting Schedule)
This pot-melt melting schedule works for both COE 90 and COE 96. It is a suggested starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently, so test a small run and adjust for your glass and kiln.
Segment Rate (F/hr) Temp (F) Hold (min) 1 450 1640* 75 2 9999 (AFAP) 1500 30 3 9999 (AFAP) 960 90 4 100 825 10
*If your kiln runs hotter than it reads, reduce Segment 1 to 1620 F. The glass separator begins to break down above 1660 F, so do not over-fire. If the glass does not fully cast at 1640 F, add to the Segment 1 hold in 15 minute increments, or raise the temperature in 5 degree increments. Place the loaded Mini Scrap Master directly over the prepared mold on a level kiln shelf so the holes in the melting pots line up over the mold cavities.
