Twisted Cane Murrini Stick Spring Green and Jade Green COE90

This twisted cane carries a two tone green pattern through its full length. Cut faces show a bright spring green motif set inside concentric bands of deeper jade green. Because the cane is twisted, the pattern rotates along its length: the center reads as a rounded square on some cuts and as a round dot or clover form on others, so consecutive slices are related but never quite identical. The spring green is bright and yellow toned, while the jade green reads as a deeper, cooler counterpart.

Murrini are small cross-section slices of patterned glass cane, also called millefiori. Cut your own slices from this stick, place them on the surface of your COE90 fused glass project, and fire them in your kiln so they fuse into the base glass. Working Notes

A full fuse melts murrini slices flat and flush into the surface of your base glass, producing a smooth finish where the green on green pattern sits level with the surrounding glass. A tack fuse stops short of full melting and leaves each slice slightly raised and three dimensional, so the motif stands a little proud of the surface. Both results can work well depending on the look you want for the finished piece.

Test a small sample before committing to a full project. Results vary by kiln model, glass thickness, and the specifics of your firing schedule. Match your schedule to the recommendations for your COE90 glass and adjust based on what your test pieces show.
