Wissmach Azure (color code 96-122) is COE 96 kiln glass, a bright cyan sky blue opaque in a 3mm sheet, tested for fusing compatibility.
Appearance A clean, bright sky blue laid down evenly across the sheet, with a smooth surface and barely any tonal drift. As an opaque it blocks light and keeps its full cyan strength on any background, a natural pick for skies, water and bold flat color fields.
Striking Like Wissmach's other Opaque and Prisma colors, Azure may strike to a deeper or denser blue after firing. Count on the fired sheet reading a little richer than the raw one, and fire a sample chip when the exact shade matters.
Working notes Wissmach’s recommended full fuse schedule for a 6mm project made from two 3mm layers: heat at 300 degrees F per hour to 1225 F and hold 30 minutes, then 600 per hour to 1460 F with a 10 minute hold, cool as fast as the kiln allows to 960 F and hold 1 hour, then 100 per hour down to 700 F. These numbers come from Wissmach’s current published firing guidance. They are guidelines, not guarantees. Kilns differ, so fire a small test piece first.
Reactions Azure carries both the copper and sulfur markers on Wissmach's COE 96 chart, so it can form darker reaction lines against neighbors from either family. Results vary by batch, temperature and combination, so test fire any contact pairing before committing a project.
