Bullseye Red Stringers (style 000124) are 90 COE fusible stringers, thin rods of glass for drawing fine lines, outlines, and linear detail on fused work. As a striking color, it may not reach its final shade until it is fired.
Cold characteristics Bullseye writes these notes for the sheet form of this color; the same glass is used to make this product.
Color variations common from red-orange to terracotta. Frequently lightly streaked and with yellow mottling on back of single-rolled sheet.
Working notes A cadmium/selenium glass. Can react with lead-bearing glasses or overglazes. Possible reactions with 001311, 001215. Much color variation typical upon firing. If specific color is important, always test before beginning project. Use glasses from same dates. Do not assume that sheets of the same color when cold will fire identically. This style is not suitable for kilncasting because it can become incompatible when held at high temperatures for an extended period. It may also become incompatible in instances where processes exceed the parameters of the test for compatibility. Testing recommended when heatwork exceeds these parameters.
Reactions This is a reactive glass. It contains Sulfur (S) / Selenium (Se) and may react where it meets Copper (Cu), Lead (Pb), and Silver (Ag), forming a visible line or halo at the boundary. Use that on purpose to outline and add depth, or keep reactive colors apart to avoid it.
Using the stringers Stringers are thin, uniform rods you lay on the surface to draw lines, borders, lettering, and fine detail. They fuse flat into the glass and can be snipped, bent with a little heat, or arranged into patterns before firing.
Fusing and compatibility Tested compatible with other Bullseye glass. When you combine it with glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
