COE90 Circles & Essential Shapes is the workhorse category for fusers who build on a 90 base. Circles come in clear, clear iridescent, a long run of opalescent colors and a set of dichroic coated rounds, and the category also carries hearts in several sizes, plain ovals and stars. The same basic shape often appears in more than one color range.
Circles are the deepest part of the range. Opalescent rounds cover Black, White, Red, Orange, Burnt Orange, Egyptian Blue, Lilac Purple, Spring Green, Canary Yellow, Sunflower Yellow, Ivory, Pink and Elephant Gray, alongside plain Clear and Clear Iridescent. White Opalescent and Clear circles are the two most ordered items in the category, with Clear Iridescent and Black Opalescent close behind. The dichroic circles come on either black or clear glass in Candy Apple Red, Cyan/Copper, Emerald Green, Rainbow 2, Silver and Yellow/Blue, which gives you the choice between a solid flash on black and a translucent shift on clear.
Beyond circles you will find hearts in Clear, White Opalescent, Pink Opalescent, Red Opalescent, Red Transparent and Red Iridescent Transparent, plus a Long Heart in Red Transparent and a small Mini Hearts pack that sells nearly as well as the big circles. Ovals come in Black, Clear and White, and stars in Blue, Red, White and Yellow Opalescent along with a Star of David.
Circles run from 1/2 inch up to 3 inches in diameter. The 1/2 inch and 1 inch rounds ship in packs of 5; the 1 1/2, 2 and 3 inch rounds ship in packs of 3. Hearts follow a similar ladder, from a 1 inch by 15/16 inch heart in packs of 5 up to a 3 inch by 2 3/4 inch heart in packs of 3, and ovals and stars are listed as small, medium and large. Choose clear or clear iridescent when the circle is a cap, a base or a lens over another color; choose an opalescent when the shape itself is the color note; choose dichroic on black for the strongest color and dichroic on clear when light needs to pass through.
Every shape in this category is COE90 and is formulated to fuse with other compatible glass in the COE90 family. Keep a project inside one COE system from base to cap; a matching number on its own is not a guarantee between brands, so test any pairing you have not fired before. Small rounds and hearts tack fuse well onto a sheet base and full fuse flat into it. For the dichroic circles, follow the coating maker's guidance on which way up to fire them and whether to cap.
Stacked circles make dots, eyes, bubbles and planets on plates and suncatchers; clear circles are the standard cap over dichroic or frit. Hearts and stars carry pendants, ornaments and card-sized gifts, and the Mini Hearts are a favorite for earrings. Ovals become cabochon blanks and simple pendant bases. The 3 inch rounds work as coaster centers and small dish bases. If you need shapes with more subject to them, the sibling categories cover flowers and botanicals, animals and wildlife and seasonal and holiday shapes, all in the same COE90 system.
