Conical Drape Lamp Base Kit

The Conical Drape Lamp Base Kit from Creative Paradise is the hardware component designed to pair with the Conical Drape Draping Mold. Once a glass blank has been draped and fired over that mold, this base kit provides the fitting to mount the finished conical glass form and use it as a working lamp.

This kit is engineered specifically for the glass form produced by the Conical Drape Draping Mold. The draping mold and this base kit are sold separately.

What does the Conical Drape Lamp Base Kit do?
It provides the hardware base that turns a fired conical glass drape into a functional lamp. It is the finishing component for glass pieces made with the Conical Drape Draping Mold.

How do I prepare the draping mold before firing?
Coat the mold surface with a boron nitride primer such as ZYP or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer, and let it dry completely before placing glass over it. Re-coat as needed between firings.

What glass works with the draping mold?
Any COE. The ceramic draping mold is COE agnostic, so COE96, COE90, and other fusible glass all work. Match your slumping schedule to the glass you are using.

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a slumping schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Before firing glass over the Conical Drape Draping Mold, coat the mold surface with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer, or a kiln wash, and let it dry completely so the glass releases cleanly after firing.
• The Conical Drape Draping Mold is COE agnostic. Use a slumping or draping schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the final anneal soak for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the draped glass piece. Re-coat the mold with primer as needed between firings.
• The Slide Hi Temp brand separator is not recommended with the Conical Drape Draping Mold or other Creative Paradise ceramic molds.
• Once the glass piece is cooled and released from the mold, attach it to this lamp base kit to complete the lamp.
