Freestyle etched dichroic glass pairs a shimmering dichroic coating with a freestyle etched pattern, so the design shows as bright, color shifting areas against the base glass. Every piece in this category is made to order: you pick the pattern first, then choose the COE, base glass, and size that fit your project. That means the combination you create may never have been made before.
Patterns range from florals and botanicals such as Floral Frolic, Cherry Blossom, and Flowering Vine to geometric and abstract designs like Dense Star, Whirl, and Abstract Tribal, plus playful motifs including Paw Print, Dragonflies, Bubbles, and Snowflake designs. In each piece, the coated areas keep the color shifting shimmer of dichroic glass while the open areas of the pattern reveal the glass beneath.
Each pattern is offered in your choice of COE90 or COE96, so you can match the system the rest of your project uses; pick the system you already work in and never mix the two. The base glass changes the character of the piece: a black base makes the dichroic colors read bold and mirror-like, while a clear base is more subtle and shifts with the light and whatever sits behind it. Size options are chosen on each product page.
These pieces are popular for jewelry, cabochons, and pendants, and as focal accents in fused glass art, where a small amount of dichroic pattern carries a lot of visual weight. Many artists cap with clear glass, though uncapped and tack fused approaches also work depending on the project. Follow the firing guidance for your base glass and test a small piece first.
