Floral Former 7" Draping Mold

Unlike a casting mold, no cavity is filled here: the glass piece goes over the outside of the tall form, and the drape firing does the work. Use thinfire paper as the separator on this mold rather than shelf primer or kiln wash. As a ceramic mold it is COE agnostic and reusable across many firings.

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a drape schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Use thinfire paper as the separator on this form. Creative Paradise recommends thinfire paper rather than shelf primer or a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer for this particular mold.
• Place your pre-made glass blank over the top of the tall form before firing. The glass will soften and settle around the shape by gravity during the drape firing.
• The mold is COE agnostic. Use a drape firing schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the final anneal soak temperature for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the draped piece from the form. Re-prep with thinfire paper as needed between firings.

This is a suggested COE96 starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Test a small run and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.

*Segment 4 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.
