Oceanside Aventurine Black (style 568-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, crushed opaque black glass with aventurine sparkle.
Appearance
Solid opaque black granules shot through with fine aventurine sparkle. They read as a deep black while the metallic flecks throw glints of light across the pile, like silver in coal.
Working notes
As an opaque opal, it holds a solid black over any base while the sparkle stays visible after firing. A heavy scatter builds a glittering black field; a light dusting adds subtle sparkle and shading. Avoid extended high heat, which can dull the aventurine.
Reactions
This color is not on the System 96 reactive list, so it sits next to other colors without forming a reaction line. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors that do react.
Using the frit
Sprinkle it over a base for soft transitions, pack it into a mold, or add texture and detail to a fused piece.
Fusing and compatibility
Tested compatible with any other 96 COE glass in the System 96 family. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a test tile first.
