Oceanside Blue Opalescent (style 2302-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, deep blue crushed glass for shading, blending and casting.
Appearance
A rich royal blue with a slight violet lean, opalescent so it reads solid and saturated rather than see-through. Loose in the jar the crushed chips look bright and even, catching light on their broken faces, and it fires to a strong opaque blue.
Working notes
As an opalescent blue this frit lays down solid color over light and dark bases. A full fuse melts it smooth, while a lighter firing keeps a granular, textured finish.
Reactions
This color is not on the System 96 reactive list, so it sits next to other colors without forming a reaction line. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors that do react.
Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass in grades from fine powder to coarse chips. Fine grades shade and blend, medium grades add speckle and fill, coarse grades give texture and body for casting. Sift or place by hand to control where the color lands.
Fusing and compatibility
It fuses with any 96 COE glass in the System 96 family. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a test tile first.
