Oceanside Ivory Opalescent Frit (style 2101-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, crushed ivory opal glass.
Appearance
Crushed glass in a soft pearly white ivory. The pieces carry a warm cream tone with a gentle sheen, almost like tiny chips of shell, staying pale and soft rather than clear; spread out they make a bright warm ground.
Working notes
Ivory opal frit gives a warm neutral fill and soft cream shading over other colors. Being opal it holds its light color over both dark and light bases, fusing smoothly into the surface with heat.
Reactions
This is a sulfur-bearing color, rated high on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a copper-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Next to non-reactive colors it stays true. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors it reacts with.
Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass in grades from powder to coarse. Sprinkle it over a base, pack it into molds for casting, or mix grades to build depth.
Fusing and compatibility
It fuses cleanly with any other 96 COE product in the System 96 family. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so test-fire a small tile first.
