Oceanside Red Reactive Opalescent (style OGTN045F) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible glass sold as noodles, flat ribbon strands of a reactive color built to bloom red against copper-bearing glass.
Appearance
On its own the glass is pale and unassuming, but laid over a copper-bearing turquoise and fired, the noodles bloom into a deep red network where the two glasses meet. The reaction line runs brick to ruby red, tracing every place a noodle crosses the reactive base.
Working notes
Over non-reactive colors it stays pale, so pair it with copper-bearing turquoise or blue to bring out the red linework, outlines, and shading. A full fuse melts the noodles flat while keeping the reaction color.
Reactions
This is a reactive color developed to react against copper-bearing glass, typically producing a deep reddish tone where the two meet. Fusers use it deliberately for shading and accents. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for details.
Using the noodles
Noodles are thin, flat ribbon strands of glass, useful for stripes, borders, linework, and fine detail across a fused piece. Lay them on a base, cut them to length, or bend them warm for curves.
Fusing and compatibility
Fires on the System 96 schedule with any 96 COE glass in the family. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
