Oceanside Persimmon Opalescent Frit (style 2711-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, crushed opal glass in a warm persimmon orange.
Appearance
A warm persimmon orange, opaque and opalescent so the grains read as solid color. The pieces are irregular and medium-sized, catching soft highlights on their broken faces.
Working notes
The grains hold solid orange over light and dark bases. Sprinkled thin they add fine speckles; layered thicker they build a denser field. A full fuse melts them smoother, a lighter fuse keeps a granular texture.
Reactions
This is a sulfur-bearing color, rated low on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a copper-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Next to non-reactive colors it stays true. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors it reacts with.
Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass for shading, blending, texture, and filling casting molds. Fuse to melt the grains together.
Fusing and compatibility
Fuses cleanly with any 96 COE glass in the System 96 family. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
