Oceanside Red Reactive (style OGTS045F) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible stringers, a reactive color that develops a deep red where it meets copper-bearing glass.
Appearance
On their own the stringers read as pale, nearly colorless threads. Where they fuse against copper-bearing glass they turn a deep red-brown. The red comes from the reaction, not from a built-in color.
Working notes
The red only develops through the reaction, so lay these threads on or against copper-bearing glass to draw the color out. Without a reactive neighbor they stay pale.
Reactions
This is a reactive color developed to react against copper-bearing glass, typically producing a deep reddish tone where the two meet. Fusers use it deliberately for shading and accents. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for details.
Using the stringers
Stringers are thin glass threads for drawing lines, outlines, and fine linework across a base. Lay them by hand for detail or fuse them in for delicate pattern. A full fuse melts them flush while a tack fuse keeps them raised.
Fusing and compatibility
Fuses cleanly with any 96 COE product in the System 96 family. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
