Round Peacock Textured Fusing Tile

The Round Peacock Textured Fusing Tile from Creative Paradise is a ceramic tile with a peacock surface pattern that transfers texture onto the underside of glass during a fuse firing. Place the tile flat in the kiln as you would a standard kiln shelf tile, lay your prepared glass on top, and fire. As the glass softens it picks up the peacock design from the tile surface. Frit may also be fused directly on the tile to create a patterned textured piece.

The tile measures 11 inches in diameter. Like all ceramic kiln tiles, it is COE agnostic and works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Prep the surface with a glass separator or kiln wash before each use, following the manufacturer's instructions for applying and curing.

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a firing schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Prime the tile surface with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer, or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer, following the manufacturer's instructions for applying and curing. Let it dry completely before placing glass on top.
• Place the prepared tile flat in the kiln as you would a kiln shelf tile. Lay your glass blank on top so it contacts the tile surface. As the glass softens during firing it picks up the peacock texture.
• Frit may also be fused directly on the tile surface to create a patterned piece with the peacock design.
• The tile is COE agnostic. Use a firing schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the final anneal soak for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the glass. Re coat the tile with separator as needed between firings.

Creative Paradise Suggested Firing Schedule

This is a suggested COE96 starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Test a small run and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.

Full Fuse (COE96): suggested for two full layers of COE96 glass.

*Segment 4 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.
