Firing Guidelines & Helpful Tips
Firing schedules and surface results vary by kiln, glass thickness, base glass, coating, layering, and desired finish. These are guidelines, not guarantees. Use the base glass manufacturer's guidance, and test a small piece first when appearance or compatibility is important.
- Cut on the non-etched (back) side.
- Clear capping, uncapped firing, and coating-side orientation can each affect the final look. Coating side up tends toward a glossier finish, and coating side down tends toward a more matte finish. So test first when the result matters.
