Etched Dichroic Leopard packs the surface with dense leopard rosettes, irregular open spots, clustered specks, and tight gaps of negative space in an all over field. This etched dichroic glass gives bold graphic coverage, organic and high density, the spot motif repeating evenly with no single focal point. The dichroic coating reflects one color and transmits another. On Black Glass the etched pattern is bold and high contrast, showing primarily the reflected color. On Clear Glass light passes through, so both the transmitted and reflected colors appear at once, shifting with the viewing angle, suited to suncatchers and windows. Best for jewelry, cabochons, and accent cuts. The dichroic color combination is chosen from an AGS curated set selected for this pattern. An ArtGlassSupplies.com exclusive.

Working Notes
Firing Guidelines & Helpful Tips
Firing schedules and surface results vary by kiln, glass thickness, base glass, coating, layering, and desired finish. These are guidelines, not guarantees. Use the base glass manufacturer's guidance, and test a small piece first when appearance or compatibility is important.
- Cut on the unetched (back) side.
- Clear capping, uncapped firing, and coating side orientation can each affect the final look, coating side up tends toward a glossier finish, and coating side down tends toward a more matte finish, so test first when the result matters.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is etched dichroic glass?
Dichroic glass is known for showing different colors depending on light and viewing angle. Ancient examples include the Roman Lycurgus Cup, whose color shift came from tiny gold and silver particles within the glass. Modern art dichroic glass uses a different thin-film coating approach: very thin metal or metal-oxide layers on the glass surface reflect some wavelengths of light while allowing others to pass through. For these products, selected areas of the coating have been etched away to leave the pattern, and the etched through areas reveal the base glass beneath. The coating is on one side only.
What base and color combinations are available for Etched Dichroic Leopard?
Choose a base of Black Glass or Clear Glass, paired with one of our AGS curated dichroic color combinations: Cyan/Red, Mixture Reptilian, or Rainbow 2. Base, dichroic combination, and size are selected at order time.
How does the dichroic color look on Black vs Clear glass?
On Black Glass you see primarily the reflected color, bold and high contrast, because no light passes through the opaque base. On Clear Glass light passes through, so you see both the transmitted and reflected colors at once, shifting with the viewing angle, which suits suncatchers and windows.
Is the Etched Dichroic Leopard made to order?
Each piece is etched to order. Because it is etched on demand, it may not ship under our standard next day shipping guarantee, allow extra handling time.
Can I get this pattern on a different glass, or my own pattern etched?
Yes. For other color glass or full configurability, use our Freestyle Etched option (linked on this page). Custom etching is also available, contact AGS to arrange your own pattern etched onto dichroic glass.
