The Etched Luminescent Peacock renders a crested bird in profile, a plumed crown, a single eye, layered scale feathers, and long trailing tail plumes in a pictorial scene drawn with fine, line-forward detail. Dense, intricate linework holds the figure together across etched luminescent glass, with a luminous rainbow shimmer playing through the open coating.
The luminescent coating gives a pearlescent rainbow shimmer that shifts with the light and varies sheet to sheet, seen in ordinary light. On a Black base it reads bold and high-contrast; a Clear base stays translucent and passes light for suncatchers; the Peacock base grounds it in deep color.

Firing Instructions & Helpful Tips: Luminescent Etched Glass
These are guidelines, not guarantees. Each kiln and each handmade sheet behaves a little differently, so test a small piece first when the result matters.
- Cut on the non-etched (back) side. To cut on the etched (front) side instead, pre-fire etched-side-down to about 1350°F first.
- Do not cap with clear.
- For the first fuse, fire etched-side-down on fiber paper. Fired face-up the luminescent coating can burn off.
- It can be re-fired etched-side-up at a lower temperature (under 1400°F; we don't exceed 1250°F).

What is etched luminescent glass?
A: A luminescent coating on the glass surface that gives a luminous, pearlescent rainbow shimmer in ordinary light. It is not glow in the dark. Selected areas of the coating have been etched away to leave the pattern: the remaining coating carries the rainbow shimmer, and the etched-through areas reveal the base glass beneath. The coating is on one side.
What base options are available for Etched Luminescent Peacock?
A: Black Luminescent, Clear Luminescent, and Peacock Luminescent, all 3mm. The base is selected at order time.
How does the rainbow shimmer look on different bases?
A: On a Black base the rainbow shimmer reads bold and high-contrast. On a Clear base it is more translucent and passes light, suited to suncatchers and windows. On a Peacock base it sits against a deep colored ground. The shimmer shifts with the light and varies sheet to sheet, and is seen in normal light, not in the dark.

A: Each piece is etched to order. Because it is etched on demand, it may not ship under our standard next-day shipping guarantee. Allow extra handling time.
