Oceanside Dark Amber (style OGT111WF) is System 96 tested compatible 96 COE fusible sheet glass, a rich amber transparent color in a Waterglass texture.
Appearance
Dark Amber is a warm, rich brown-orange that reads transparent with light behind it, deepening toward a dark tobacco tone in the thicker passages. The Waterglass surface adds a strong rippled, watery movement that breaks up the light across the sheet. Held to the light it glows amber and gold.
Working notes
The Waterglass ripple sits on one face while the reverse is smoother, so decide which side shows before firing. A full fuse softens the ripple as the glass flattens, while a tack fuse or lower firing keeps more surface movement. As a transparent it shows best over a light base, and as a sulfur-bearing color it can shade against copper-bearing glass.
Reactions
This is a sulfur-bearing color, rated high on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a copper-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Next to non-reactive colors it stays true. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors it reacts with.
Format and sizes
Sold as 3mm Waterglass sheet glass. Choose your size from the options on this page.
Fusing and compatibility
Tested compatible with other System 96 glass, so it fuses cleanly with any 96 COE product in the System 96 family. When you combine it with glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
