Oceanside Pastel Green Opal (style 2222-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, crushed opalescent mint green glass.
Appearance
A soft pastel mint green with a gentle opal glow, reading as an even opaque mint across the pile, cool and light rather than deep.
Working notes
As an opalescent the mint stays solid and opaque over a base. Crushed glass melts faster than sheet, flowing into washes and pooled color at fusing heat.
Reactions
This is a copper-bearing color, rated low on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a sulfur-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Using the frit
Frit comes in graded sizes for controlled color work. Finer grades melt into smooth washes for shading and blending; coarser grades hold texture for casting and pate de verre.
Fusing and compatibility
It fuses cleanly with any 96 COE product in the System 96 family. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
