Oceanside White Opalescent (style 200-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, a bright milky white crushed glass for shading and casting.
Appearance
A clean, bright white with the soft pearly quality of opalescent glass. Each chip is opaque rather than clear, so the pile reads as a solid white, and light off the broken faces gives a subtle sheen.
Working notes
This opal white stays bright over any base, light or dark. A full fuse melts the chips smooth, while a tack fuse keeps a granular, raised texture.
Reactions
This color is not on the System 96 reactive list, so it sits next to other colors without forming a reaction line. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors that do react.
Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass in grades from fine to coarse. Fine grades give smooth shading and blending; coarser grades add texture, accents, and body for casting.
Fusing and compatibility
Fuses cleanly with any other System 96 glass at 96 COE. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
