Oceanside Clear Transparent (style 00-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, colorless crushed glass for casting, shading and blending.
Appearance
This frit is clear and colorless, crushed glass with no tint. Loose in the jar it looks white and frosted from all the broken surfaces catching light, but it fires out water-clear and transparent. Use it where you want texture or fill without adding color.
Working notes
Clear frit fires transparent, so it takes on whatever sits beneath it and lets background color and light show through. Scattered on a base it adds surface texture; packed into a mold or dam it casts into a clear body. A full fuse melts it smooth, while a lighter firing keeps a granular, pebbled surface.
Reactions
This color is not on the System 96 reactive list, so it sits next to other colors without forming a reaction line. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors that do react.
Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass sold in grades from fine powder to coarse chips. Fine grades work for soft shading and blending color across a surface, medium grades add speckle and fill, and coarse grades give clear texture and body for casting. Sift or place it by hand to control where the color lands. It is System 96 96 COE, compatible with the rest of the System 96 family.
Fusing and compatibility
Tested compatible with other System 96 glass, so it fuses cleanly with any 96 COE product in the System 96 family. When you combine it with glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
