Oceanside Pale Blue (style 1308-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, a soft transparent blue in crushed glass form.
Appearance
The frit is a pale, cool blue with a faint periwinkle cast, transparent so the chips catch light and glint at their broken edges. The pile reads soft and airy, lighter than a saturated cobalt, with a gentle violet undertone where the chips gather.
Working notes
As a light transparent frit the pale blue glows softly over a light base and settles quieter over dark. A full fuse melts the chips into a soft blue layer, while a tack fuse keeps a granular texture.
Reactions
This is a copper-bearing color, rated low on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a sulfur-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass sold in grades from fine to coarse, and it is one of the most flexible tools for a fuser. Use fine grades for smooth shading and color blending, and coarser grades for texture, accents, and filling molds for casting.
Fusing and compatibility
Tested compatible with other System 96 glass, so it fuses cleanly with any 96 COE product in the System 96 family. When you combine it with glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
