Oceanside Sea Green (style 5281-96) is System 96 tested compatible 96 COE fusible frit, glassy sea green transparent crushed glass.
Appearance
These granules are a light, clear sea green with a glassy sparkle, reading like sunlit shallow water. As a transparent the pieces catch and pass light along their edges. The tone is soft and cool rather than deep.
Working notes
Frit has a large surface area, so a thin scatter gives a light green wash while a deeper layer builds a solid band of color. As a transparent it shows best over a white or light base. Coarser grades keep more texture through a tack fuse, and a full fuse melts the pieces smooth.
Reactions
This is a copper-bearing color, rated low on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a sulfur-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Next to non-reactive colors it stays true. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors it reacts with.
Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass sold in grades from powder to coarse. Use it to shade and blend color, build gradients, add surface texture, or pack a mold for casting. Layer it over base glass or mix grades for depth. It is System 96 96 COE and fuses with the rest of the System 96 family.
Fusing and compatibility
Tested compatible with other System 96 glass, so it fuses cleanly with any 96 COE product in the System 96 family. When you combine it with glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
