Oceanside Vanilla Cream Opalescent (style 2103-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, crushed opalescent glass in a soft vanilla cream.
Appearance
A warm ivory cream with a faint pearly sheen. The opal granules are opaque, reading as a soft off-white with a gentle yellow warmth where light catches the broken faces.
Working notes
Use it for warm highlights, blending, and softening on a base. A full fuse melts the granules smooth; a lighter firing keeps more grain and texture.
Reactions
This is a sulfur-bearing color, rated high on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a copper-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Next to non-reactive colors it stays true. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors it reacts with.
Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass in grades from fine to coarse. Sift or sprinkle it onto a base to build color, or pack it into molds for casting.
Fusing and compatibility
It fuses cleanly with any other 96 COE product in the System 96 family. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so test-fire a small tile first.
