Oceanside Dark Green Opalescent is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, crushed opalescent glass in a deep forest green.
Appearance
A rich dark forest green with evergreen depth. The opal granules are opaque with a slight sheen, holding a solid deep green across the broken faces.
Working notes
The opal frit reads solid where it is laid down: use it for deep green shading, foliage, and texture. A full fuse melts the granules smooth; a lighter firing keeps more grain.
Reactions
This is a copper-bearing color, rated high on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a sulfur-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Next to non-reactive colors it stays true. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors it reacts with.
Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass in grades from fine to coarse. Sift or sprinkle it to build color and texture, or pack it into molds for casting.
Fusing and compatibility
Fires on the System 96 schedule with any 96 COE glass in the family. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
