Oceanside Black Opalescent Stringers (style OGTS56F) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible glass in stringer form, thin glass threads in a solid black.
Appearance
The stringers are a solid opaque black, thin round threads with a glossy surface. Bundled in the tube they read as clean dense black lines with bright highlights along each strand, a true flat black that does not pass light.
Working notes
As an opaque black the stringers hold a strong solid line over any color. A full fuse melts the threads flat into the surface as crisp black lines, useful for outlines and detail, while a tack fuse leaves them raised for texture. Black stringers are one of the most-used line tools in fusing because they define shapes cleanly.
Reactions
This color is not on the System 96 reactive list, so it sits next to other colors without forming a reaction line. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors that do react.
Using the stringers
Stringers are thin round threads of glass, made for drawing lines, outlines, and fine linework across a base. Lay them where you want detail and snap them to length with your fingers or a nipper.
Fusing and compatibility
Tested compatible with other System 96 glass, so it fuses cleanly with any 96 COE product in the System 96 family. When you combine it with glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
