The Small Channel Plate mold from Bullseye Glass (#8456) is a slumping form that shapes a flat glass sheet or fused blank into a long, narrow channel profile. The outer mold measures 12.6 inches by 4.1 inches, with a depth of 1.4 inches, making it suited to channel-shaped dishes, card holders, pen trays, or elongated decorative panels. Because molds are handmade and vary slightly in size, measure the mold before cutting your glass.
The mold is slipcast from a specially formulated clay body by Creative Ceramics in Europe and is imported and sold by Bullseye Glass. The surface is exceptionally smooth, accepts kiln wash uniformly, and does not crack under repeated proper use. Like all ceramic slumping forms, it is COE agnostic: coat the forming surface with kiln wash, set your glass over the form, and fire on a slumping schedule matched to your specific glass type and kiln.
What does the Small Channel Plate mold make? It shapes a flat glass sheet or fused blank into a channel form approximately 12.6 inches long and 4.1 inches wide. The finished piece takes a shallow trough or channel profile, suited to serving pieces, decorative panels, card holders, or elongated accent pieces.
What COE glass can I use with this mold? Any COE. Ceramic slumping forms are COE agnostic, so the same mold works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your slumping schedule to the glass you are using.
How do I prep the mold before slumping? Coat the forming surface with a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer and let it dry completely before placing your glass. The mold accepts kiln wash uniformly, and recoating between firings keeps the glass from sticking to the form.
How do I know what size glass to cut? The listed outer dimensions are 12.6 by 4.1 inches, but these molds are handmade and vary slightly in size. Measure your specific mold before cutting glass to get an accurate fit.

Working Notes
These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small piece first when the result matters and follow a slumping schedule suited to your glass and kiln.
Coat the forming surface with kiln wash and let it dry completely before placing your glass. The mold accepts kiln wash uniformly. You may also prime with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer if you prefer.
Molds are handmade and vary slightly in size. Measure your mold before cutting glass so the piece fits the form correctly.
Place your glass sheet or fused blank over the form and fire on a slumping schedule matched to your glass type. The mold is COE agnostic.
Visually confirm the slump during firing by looking through the kiln peephole. If the glass is not fully formed at the hold temperature, extend the hold slightly rather than raising the temperature.
Let the kiln cool fully and complete the anneal before opening the door. Recoat the mold with kiln wash as needed between firings.
Bullseye Suggested Slumping Schedule
This is a suggested starting schedule from Bullseye Glass, based on slumping 6mm pieces in a Paragon GL24 kiln. It is not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Visually confirm the slump during firing and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.
Segment Rate (F/hr) Temp (F) Hold 1 (slump ramp) 200 1200 0:25 2 (anneal soak) AFAP 900 1:00 3 (anneal cool) 100 700 none 4 (cool to room) AFAP 70 none
AFAP means as fast as possible (the kiln's natural rate). Segment 4 is a natural cool with the door closed. The anneal soak at 900 F suits COE90 glass. If using COE96, adjust the anneal soak to about 950 F.
