COE96 Dichroic Firethings

Firethings are small precut dichroic glass accents made for COE96 fusing work. Instead of cutting up a full dichroic sheet for a handful of focal points, you get fuse ready pieces with the color shifting dichroic effect built in.

What's in this category at AGS

The current range is precut dichroic glass circles sold in mixed 2 oz and 4 oz packs. Each pack blends dichroic coated black and clear glass circles ranging from 1/2 inch up to 3 inches in diameter, with the 3 inch circles included only in the 4 oz packs. Colors shift as the viewing angle and light change, so every circle reads differently on black versus clear glass.

Using dichroic accents

Drop circles onto pendants, earrings, and cabochons as instant focal points, scatter them across suncatchers and bowls, or use small diameters as eyes and dots in pictorial work. Circles on black give saturated mirror like color; circles on clear let light pass through for a more transparent effect. Many artists cap dichroic accents with clear glass for depth, though uncapped tack fused looks are also popular.

Firing notes

Everything in this category is COE96 and should be fired only with other System 96 compatible glass. Follow the schedule recommended for your base glass and test a small piece first when trying a new layup.
