Flame Working Kilns

Flame worked glass needs to be annealed just like kiln formed glass. Beads, marbles, pendants, and sculptural torch work carry stress from the flame, and a dedicated annealing kiln relieves that stress so finished pieces survive handling. The Skutt Scarab family

Skutt builds its flame working line around the Scarab family: the full size Scarab, the Mini Scarab, and the Micro Scarab. All three are designed for annealing at the torch, sized from production bench setups down to compact studios, with rolling stands available for the Scarab and Mini Scarab so the kiln can sit right where you work (the Micro Scarab does not offer one). Choosing an annealing kiln

Match the chamber to the largest work you make, not the average piece. Bead makers batch annealing small work can run compact models, while sculptural and boro work benefits from the larger chamber of the full size Scarab.
