The Long Oval Serving Bowl mold from Bullseye Glass (design number 8951) is a slumping form for shaping a pre-cut or pre-fused glass sheet into a long, narrow oval bowl. The outer mold footprint measures 18.1 inches long by 6.7 inches wide by 1.3 inches deep (46 x 17 x 3 cm), which is the dimension to check against your kiln shelf before cutting glass. These molds are handmade by Creative Ceramics in Europe, so individual pieces vary slightly in size. Measure your actual mold before cutting your glass blank.
The form is slipcast from a specially formulated clay body, made by Creative Ceramics and imported and sold by Bullseye Glass. The surface is exceptionally smooth, accepts kiln wash uniformly, and does not crack under repeated proper use when fired correctly.
What does this mold make? It slumps a pre-cut or pre-fused glass sheet into a long oval bowl shape suited to serving or display. Glass placed over the form softens in the kiln and sinks into the oval shape by gravity.
What size glass blank do I need? The outer mold dimensions are 18.1 x 6.7 x 1.3 inches, but these molds are handmade and vary slightly in size. Measure your actual mold before cutting glass to get the right blank size.
What COE glass can I use with this mold? Any COE. Ceramic slumping forms are COE agnostic, so the same mold works with COE96, COE90, or other compatible fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using.
How do I prep this mold before firing? Coat the forming surface with a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer and allow it to dry completely before placing your glass on the mold. Recoat as needed between firings.

Working Notes
These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small piece first when the result matters and follow a slumping schedule suited to your glass and kiln.
Coat the forming surface with kiln wash, or a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer , and let it dry completely before placing glass on the mold.
Cut your glass blank to fit the mold. Because these molds are handmade and vary slightly in size, measure your actual mold rather than relying solely on the listed dimensions.
Place the glass blank over the forming surface. As the kiln heats, the glass softens and drapes into the oval shape by gravity.
The mold is COE agnostic. Use a slumping schedule matched to your glass, and adjust the anneal soak temperature for your COE.
Visually confirm the slump during firing if your kiln has a viewing window, and adjust temperature or hold time as needed for your specific glass and kiln.
Let the kiln cool fully before removing the slumped piece. Recoat the forming surface with kiln wash as needed between firings.
Bullseye Suggested Slumping Schedule
This is a suggested starting schedule based on slumping 6mm glass in a Paragon GL24, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Follow Bullseye's published slumping guidance for your glass and mold depth, and test a small piece first.
Segment Rate Temp (F) Hold 1 (slump) 300 F/hr 1225 :10 2 (anneal soak) AFAP 900 1:00 3 (anneal cool) 100 F/hr 700 none 4 (natural cool) AFAP 70 none (door closed)
Segment 2 is the anneal soak at 900 F, based on COE90 glass. If using COE96, adjust the anneal soak temperature in segment 2 to 950 F.
