Large Organic Slumping Mold

The Large Organic Slumping Mold from Creative Paradise is a wide, deep slumping form measuring 13 inches in diameter and 4.75 inches tall, with a slump depth of 4 inches. A prefused glass blank or a single layer of sheet glass is placed over or into the form and fired so the glass softens and settles into the organic contour by gravity, producing a substantial deep bowl or vessel shape.

Like all ceramic slumping molds, this one is COE agnostic. Use it with COE96, COE90, or other compatible fusible glass, and match the firing schedule to the glass you choose. The mold is reusable across many firings when prepped and cared for properly between uses.

What size glass blank do I need?
The mold is 13 inches in diameter with a 4 inch slump depth, so cut or use a blank large enough to cover the form with adequate overlap to slump into the cavity. Test a first run to confirm fit and final dimensions with your glass thickness.

What COE glass can I use?
Any COE. Ceramic slumping molds are COE agnostic, so the same mold works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using.

How do I prep the mold before slumping?
Coat the mold surface with a kiln shelf primer such as a boron nitride spray (for example ZYP) or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer, and let it dry completely before placing the glass. Re-coat as needed between firings.

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a slumping schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Prime the mold surface with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer, or a kiln wash, and let it dry completely before placing the glass so it does not stick.
• Place a prefused blank or a flat sheet of glass over the mold. The 13 inch diameter and 4 inch slump depth accommodate a substantial organic bowl form.
• The mold is COE agnostic. Use a slump schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the final anneal soak for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the slumped piece. Re-coat the mold with primer as needed between firings.
• The Slide Hi Temp brand separator is not recommended with these molds.

Slump (COE96):

*Segment 3 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.
