Oceanside Amazon Green Opalescent Frit (style 2264-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, crushed opal glass in a bright leaf green.
Appearance
The photo shows a bed of crushed glass in a bright, fresh leaf green, opaque and opalescent so the grains read as solid color rather than see-through chips. The pieces are irregular and medium-sized, with soft highlights where light catches the broken faces, and the green stays even across the batch.
Working notes
As an opal frit, the grains keep their solid green color over both light and dark bases. Sprinkled thin, the frit adds fine speckles of green; piled thicker, it builds a denser field of color. On a full fuse the grains melt together into a smoother surface, while a lighter fuse keeps a granular, textured look. It blends well as shading or an accent over larger glass.
Reactions
This is a copper-bearing color, rated low on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a sulfur-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Next to non-reactive colors it stays true. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors it reacts with.
Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass used for shading, blending and adding texture, and for filling molds in casting. Sprinkle it lightly for a fine wash of color or layer it thicker for solid coverage, then fuse to melt the grains together. This is System 96 96 COE glass.
Fusing and compatibility
Tested compatible with other System 96 glass, so it fuses cleanly with any 96 COE product in the System 96 family. When you combine it with glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
