Oceanside Cherry Red Transparent (style 151-96) is a bright transparent red frit, System 96 96 COE fusible crushed glass for shading, accents and casting.
Appearance
A bright cherry red that glows where light hits the broken chips, sparkling from their cut faces with lighter and darker reds mixing. It fires as a clean transparent red.
Working notes
Being transparent, this red reads strongest over a light or clear base and deepens where it piles thicker. Scatter it for accents and shading, or pack it for a solid fill. A full fuse melts it smooth; a lighter firing keeps a granular surface.
Reactions
This is a sulfur-bearing color, rated low on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a copper-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Using the frit
Frit comes in grades from fine powder to coarse chips: fine for soft shading and blending, medium for speckle and fill, coarse for texture and casting body. Sift or place it by hand to control where the color lands.
Fusing and compatibility
Fuses cleanly with any other 96 COE glass in the System 96 family. Matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility across makers, so fire a small test tile when mixing brands.
