Oceanside Chestnut Brown (style 2114-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, a warm reddish-brown in crushed glass form.
Appearance
A deep chestnut, a warm reddish-brown with the solid, opaque body of an opalescent glass. The chips read rich cocoa-to-russet across the pile, the broken faces catching a soft sheen.
Working notes
It holds a solid, even color wherever it lands. Sprinkle it for earthy shading, blend it with amber and gold for wood and stone, or pack it into a mold for casting. A full fuse melts the chips smooth; a tack fuse keeps a granular texture.
Reactions
This is a sulfur-bearing color, rated low on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a copper-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass in grades from fine to coarse; fine for smooth shading, coarse for texture and casting.
Fusing and compatibility
It fuses cleanly with any other 96 COE product in the System 96 family. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so test-fire a small tile first.
