Oceanside Dark Blue (style 136-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, crushed transparent cobalt blue glass.
Appearance
Deep transparent cobalt blue that glows rich against light and sparkles from its broken edges, jewel-like in the pile.
Working notes
Reads brightest over light and white bases and deepens over dark ones. A heavy scatter melts into a solid blue field, a light sprinkle gives soft shading.
Reactions
This is a copper-bearing color, rated high on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a sulfur-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Next to non-reactive colors it stays true. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors it reacts with.
Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass in graded grain sizes. Pack it into a mold for casting, or use it to add texture and detail to a fused piece.
Fusing and compatibility
Fuses cleanly with any 96 COE glass in the System 96 family. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
