Oceanside Orange Opalescent Frit (style 2702-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, crushed orange opal glass.
Appearance
Crushed glass in a bright saturated orange. The pieces are dense and opal with a soft sheen where chips catch the light, making a bold even field when spread.
Working notes
Holds its color over both light and dark grounds. Finer grades blend into smooth washes, coarser grades add texture and sparkle. It packs into cast shapes and fuses cleanly into the surface.
Reactions
This is a sulfur-bearing color, rated medium on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a copper-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Next to non-reactive colors it stays true. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors it reacts with.
Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass in grades from powder to coarse. Sprinkle it over a base, pack it into molds for casting, or mix grades to build depth.
Fusing and compatibility
Fuses cleanly with any other 96 COE product in the System 96 family. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
