Oceanside Sky Blue Transparent Frit (style 5331-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, crushed glass in a bright transparent sky blue.
Appearance
Clear, bright sky blue granules that sparkle where light passes through their edges, reading as a lively, saturated cyan. The grade shown is a medium crush of small, angular pieces.
Working notes
Adds clean, glowing color for skies, water, and blended washes. Laid thin over a light base it stays bright and see-through; a thicker layer deepens the color. Fused, the granules melt into a textured or smooth field depending on thickness.
Reactions
This is a copper-bearing color, rated high on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a sulfur-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Using the frit
Sold in graded sizes, finer for smooth shading and coarser for texture, and it can be packed into casting molds.
Fusing and compatibility
Fuses cleanly with the rest of the System 96 line. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee a fit, so fire a test tile first.
