Oceanside Teal Green Transparent (style 5232-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible glass in frit form, crushed transparent glass in a jewel teal green.
Appearance
The frit is a bright transparent teal green, a clear blue-green with a jewel-like clarity. The crushed chips catch and pass light, glowing emerald where they pile up and lighter where they thin out. Broken into frit the sparkle of the transparent glass really shows, with bright facets across the pile.
Working notes
As a transparent the frit passes light, so it glows brightest over clear or a light base and lets underlying color show through. A full fuse melts the chips into a smooth teal surface, while a lighter fuse keeps a sparkling granular texture. This is a high copper-bearing color, so it can react where it meets a sulfur-bearing glass.
Reactions
This is a copper-bearing color, rated high on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a sulfur-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Next to non-reactive colors it stays true. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors it reacts with.
Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass sold in grades from fine to coarse, used for shading, blending color across a surface, filling detail, and casting into molds. Sprinkle it dry over a base, pack it into a mold, or blend grades for gradients. This is System 96 glass at 96 COE.
Fusing and compatibility
Tested compatible with other System 96 glass, so it fuses cleanly with any 96 COE product in the System 96 family. When you combine it with glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
