Oceanside Turquoise Blue Opalescent Frit (style 2334-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, crushed glass in a solid turquoise blue.
Appearance
Crushed glass granules in a bright, opaque turquoise blue. The opalescent chips read as a dense, solid color with a soft sheen rather than a see-through blue.
Working notes
Opaque turquoise frit lays down bold, solid color for blending, shading, and filling. Because it is opalescent it keeps its strong turquoise over both light and dark bases. Fused thin it settles into a smooth wash; packed thicker it builds a textured field.
Reactions
This is a copper-bearing color, rated high on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a sulfur-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Using the frit
Frit is crushed glass for adding color, shading, and texture. Sprinkle it to blend colors, build gradients, and fill open areas, or pack it into casting molds; finer grades give smoother shading, coarser grades more grain.
Fusing and compatibility
Fuses cleanly with any other System 96 glass at 96 COE. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
