Panda Decal Sheet

This sheet carries seven giant panda designs printed in bold black and white. These are water-slide fusible glass decals. To apply, soak a decal in room-temperature water until it slides freely from its paper backing, then position it on the surface of clean, pre-fired glass. Smooth out water and air bubbles from the center outward, allow the piece to dry completely, then fire in your kiln. Because the decal fires onto the surface rather than fusing as a glass layer, it works with any COE glass and suits fused tiles, panels, jewelry, ornaments, and other kiln-formed work.

What makes a fusible glass decal different from fusing a glass sheet?
A fusible glass decal is a printed water-slide transfer that bonds to the surface of pre-fired glass during a second firing. It sits on top of the finished glass rather than being fused as a compatible glass layer, which means COE compatibility is not a concern. It is applied after the base piece has already been fired and formed.

How do I apply one of these panda decals to my glass piece?
Soak the decal in room-temperature water for 30 to 60 seconds until it begins to slide on its paper backing. Slide it onto the surface of clean, dry, pre-fired glass and use a soft squeegee or fingertip to gently smooth it from the center outward, removing water and air bubbles. Allow the piece to dry fully before loading it into the kiln.

How many panda designs come on one sheet?
Each sheet includes seven individual panda designs. The variety of poses gives you flexibility to use them one at a time or group several together on a single piece.

Can I apply these decals to colored or textured glass?
Yes, provided the glass has been pre-fired and the surface is clean and smooth. A heavily textured surface may affect how well the decal adheres, so test on a scrap piece first to confirm the result with your specific glass.

Apply decals to a clean, pre-fired glass surface that is free of kiln wash, oils, and fingerprints. Allow the decal to dry fully before firing. Anneal for the thickness of your glass. Every kiln fires differently, so test on a small sample piece before committing to a full project.

Suggested Firing Schedule (the manufacturer's recommended starting point, not a guarantee of results):
This black-and-white sheet fires to a peak of 1240 to 1370 degrees, held about 10 minutes and kept toward the lower end to preserve density. Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees.
50 DPH to 185 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 20 minutes
150 DPH to 300 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 15 minutes
250 DPH to 500 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 15 minutes
600 DPH to 1000 degrees, HOLD/SOAK 10 minutes
